Using an Elmo Document Camera with the SMART Board

This shows how I get pictures on the board with my Elmo TT-20s. I haven't tried this with other brands or models, but if they connect by USB, I would assume it would.

No. It will work with the arm thingy. It's the connections from the computer and being able to split the video source from the computer if you want video to go to the projector and monitor. I'm going to do a video or put together a direction sheet for connecting. Look for it at this forum post in the near future. I'll post a message when it is ready.

I found your blog when I was searching for info on connecting ELMOs and Smartboards. My school is about to purchase both things for most of the teachers. When using a wall mounted smartboard with attached projector (the little arm thingy), how do you go about connecting the ELMO?? Some of the admin in charge of purchasing these items think we'll need a separate projector to use the ELMOs...

Depending on how your camera is connected, you may have to change inputs on the camera itself. For instance, to get to the point where I can do what the video above says, I have to turn on the Elmo. When I do, the video comes directly from the camera. All the SB icons and everything goes away because it is direct video from the camera. Then I have to push the PC button on the camera to switch the video source back to the computer. Now all the SB stuff is back. Then I can follow the directions in the video. I guess I should have put that in the video. I think I put it on the directions I created and posted in the forum.

See if your camera has a similar switch. That sounds like the problem to me. Of course, the video cables have to be connected in a certain way for that configuration to work. I don't know your camera. If you send a few pictures of the camera controls and the connections, I may be able to help more.

HELP...I am using a Lumens DC260 and when I try to open the Smart Notebook software with the camera connected ..I am only able to see the image from the camera on my SMARTboard and not my notebook icons....PLUS the screen is waving ...I have been trying to troubleshoot this for a few weeks and decided to give it up for some expert advice..
Thanks for any help offered!!

Here is a link to a few documents with directions to use the Elmo on a SMART Board. One is a Word Document, the other is a Notebook file.

Patricia,
The recorder on the Mac is buried. Look in the SMART Notebook folder, then the Additional Tools folder. You'll find it there.

Susan, The anti-glare is just a piece of plastic, like a transparency, but it is translucent. It came with the ELMO that I got. Think of the frosted glass in a bathroom or shower door. It's like that. You can see through pretty well, but it scatters the light to reduce glare.

That is fantastic. I was wondering if you are using a Mac? I was thrilled to locate the Smart Recorder on my PC (which I no longer have access to) so I have just downloaded smartboard software to my Mac and am very dissapointed that the recorder does not appear on the Mac version... any ideas? I love the Elmo camera, but my first priority is to locate the recorder you used to make that little video! Thanks in advanced. Trish

How do you stop the glare? What is your anti glare feature?

For a beginner who doesn't know how to do ANYTHING yet, this was a great first step. Thanks!
