SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

I just completed a week long learning experience on Smart Technologies at Florida Southern College in Lakeland Florida. It was incredible. For the first such institute, Smart and FSC did a great job of putting it together.

What made it great was that the focus was not on learning how to "use" Smart Technologies but rather the integration of technology and pedagogy. The curriculum was written and developed by Dr. Jennifer King of FSC and is soundly based on Bloom's Taxonomy of learning. What you can do when, how and with what to help our students develop the higher critical thinking skills they will need once they leave school.

Virginia was well represented by 5 ITRTs (myself included); and Heather from Spotsylvania County took home the Grand prize for having developed the best lesson. It was fantastic, and it was for high school!

We have all made plans to get together at VSTE this coming December. The best part - Dr. King is scheduled to speak at the conference!

My two cents for what it was worth!

I don't think any of us had had the chance to upload yet. The conference just finished Friday, the 16th. Many took extended vacations since it was in Florida. Plus, I am sure, like me, when they got home they had to decompress a while. Look for some lessons to pop up in the next couple of weeks. If they don't show up, I will contact Smart Exchange and see whats up. Plus, I do think the lessons need to be reviewed first, but I am not 100%.

I typed in SMARTSI2010 on the exchange, but could not find your lessons. I was on this page http://exchange.smarttech.com/index.html#tab=2
where do I need to go to search your lessons? Thanks!

I know the 5 of us ITRT thought presenting would be a good way to share the information with others. Now we have to put a proposal together and get accepted as presentors.
They have it set up on Smart Exchange that if you enter this keyword "SMARTSI2010" (in addition to your other search keywords) you would be able to find the lessons we created.

Thanks for sharing. I look forward to hearing Jennifer King (who I have heard a lot about) and you present at VSTE. If you do share your SMART Notebook files online, please share them here or on the SMART Exchange so we can see a model of a good Notebook file.
