A Revolution in Education

Developmental Education: Basics of Math in Higher Education

I've been chartered with creating lessons for a CSK 032 course which is Basic Math for our Developmental Education students. I'm finding this challenging as there is not a lot of resources out there for higher education. Yet, the content of the course seems so basic that I'm considering adapting Grade 12 material that I found online.

I'm hopeful that this will work for our students. We are having a student engagement issue and I know that the integration of technology such as Smart Technology and Notebook software can help address these issues.

Hi,
Shelly, I would suggest that introduction to basic Math is necessary to be taught to help students clear the concepts first. As you have told that you lack resources, I would say use whatever you have to teach students the basics interestingly. As far as interaction is concerned, I agree to your point.

I would love to see you share some of your files, websites or what you learn, discover and find through the course with Notebook files. In some college classes, students create Notebook files to teach a concept. The Notebook files have to have a teacher page with directions, page on instruction, a page on review and an interactive part as part of the lesson/review.
