SMART Board Revolution Global Virtual User Group (SBRGVUG) October Meeting

So, Anymeeting.com let us down. We had so much trouble passing control to the different presenters and being able to hear them, that we lost a lot of time. Now I am looking for another platform to use. Ludmila suggested wiziq.com, which I've checked into a little. Sue offered an Elluminate meeting room from another ning, but we would be strongly encouraged to join that ning as well to use that. Bridgit has been suggested, but…

First Global SMART User Group is Launched!

So, I got into AnyMeeting.com, the free platform I was using for the meeting at about 7:10 to make sure I had everything set. I did and was ready. At 7:30 I was baffled as to why I was the only one there. 7:35, same thing. 7:38, I realized that, even though I had screen sharing started, I hadn't clicked the "Start Presenting" button. So, to those who tried and got the message that it wasn't available, I'm sorry. I blew it.

Once I…

SMART Product User Guides

I just realized it's been waaaay too long since I updated my pseudo-blog on this website, so it's time to get back on track! I thought I'd start with a simple, but very useful post: how to find user guides for the myriad of SMART products.

Personally, I find that sometimes features change, or I don't use a particular aspect of a piece of SMART software for awhile, and when the time comes to recall how to do it, I find myself wasting valuable time playing around looking…

Think Outside of Notebook - SMART Boards and the World Wide Web

A bit of a disclaimer before I write this post -- I LOVE SMART Notebook software. I find it's intuitive, easy to navigate and full of potential for lessons from Kindergarten right through Grade 12.

But I sometimes feel that 'we', as educators, get a little…

Have You Seen This One? Tip #4 from the SMART Notebook Gallery

Unlike some of the previous tools that I've brought attention to in previous blog posts, I'm guessing that the majority of you have already seen the spinner. But I'm willing to bet that many of you haven't experimented to discover that you can manipulate many of the properties of it to make the spinner work for various applications in your classroom.…

Have You Seen This One? Tip #3 from the SMART Notebook Gallery

My main focus when working with teachers in SMART Board pd workshops is to help facilitate the creation of lessons that increase student interactivity and collaboration in the classroom. This easily goes well for the first few hours of the workshop...

But then reality sets in, as teachers consistently ask for 'tips and tricks' that help them gain that oh-so-elusive, yet valuable commodity: TIME.

And so I decided… Continue

SMART Response VE -- The Wait is Almost Over!!

Awhile back I wrote a blog post on the announcement of the new SMART Response VE. I'm really excited about this new product, as it will enable students to take SMART Response assessments with any of their own internet-enabled devices. I can't wait to see if this is the push we need to start talking about a more open cellphone/iPod environment in schools.
