SMART Response system for primary grades

Has anybody used the SMART Response systems for primary grades? We are trying to decide whether they would be a value to k-1 teachers. Let me know your thoughts.

fraction maker

Has anyone used the fraction maker in a lesson? I found that it disabled the pen tray function. The pen made straight disjointed lines when I tried to write in a number. I was able to write by choosing the pen with my cursor.

Smartboard Issues

Over the past week, my Smartboard has been shutting itself off (while connected to my laptop). My laptop is set not to go to sleep, so that isn't the issue. I have had the district tech people in, but so far we haven't had luck. They have: updated software, and unscrewed some part of the Unifi section of the board then put it back together. Still no luck. The lights stay green mostly, but the screen just goes blank. We're trying the light bulb next, but I don't have much hope. Anyone?

Problems dragging items on SmartBoard

One of my teachers is having a major problem with her smartboard. No objects can be moved on her board. When you try to drag any item, nothing happens. The green circle allows you to rotate the item, but you cannot move it anywhere. She's had to have the kids go back to her laptop in the back of the room if they have to move something in her sorting activities, move to reveal items, etc.

We've reset the board…

So exciting, I put in a grant and am now going to be receiving the Smart Response clickers for my 5th grade inclusion classroom. Anyone have any suggestions for ways to start off on the right foot when I get them?

Who Uses SpellingCity with a SmartBoard?

I'm looking for a few case studies to find out how SpellingCity is being used with SmartBoards. We get oodles of positive feedback but not enough that is very specific. I have mouse pads and a free premium membership if someone could provide me with a 250 word description of how they use SpellingCity with a White Board. Email me for details or to apply. thanks.

Also, we just fixed our new game, LetterFall, to work on…

SpellingCity.com - A free website that teachers, students, and parents appreciate

Here's a quick overview of SpellingCity.com:

SpellingCity.com is a free website that students can use to prepare for their spelling tests. At its simplest, students can typed in their words and then get tested online by SpellingCity.com. So instead of asking their parents or friends to help them practice (since you can't really test yourself), SpellingCity does it for you.

This is only the beginning. Teachers can save their lists for all the…

Blossom Learning Course Review

I had the opportunity to preview the Applied Smart Board Course from Blossom Learning. I found it very easy to use. Simply log in with the email that was used to purchase the course and click "Launch." There are 8 chapters. Each chapter has a 5-10 minute video (I never timed them) and a 10 question chapter assessment. If you don't get 80% on the assessment you'll have to do the assessment again. It would be nice if there was a link… Continue
