Orientation can be improved by: 1. Do everything you can to make sure your projector doesn't get moved. If it is on a table, try to keep people bumping into it. If the projector is mounted, we still have some of our mounted projectors get off alig...

The Great Smart Board Lesson Exchange

We are looking for teachers to take part in a Smart Board Notebook lesson exchange that will be housed online at www.box.net (Online File Holding Site). This will allow teachers to have access to many different Smart Board Notebook Lessons from any computer at any time. It will be as simple as clicking to download a Smart Board lesson that someone else has taken the time to create. This is not just aimed towards Primary or Intermediate or Secondary, but for everyone...

There are two ways that y… Continue

Mr. Duey and Math Magician

Two separate topics being discussed today in the post.

The first is a link to a site that has been brought to my attention via a video on TeacherTube. I have included the video below of a fellow educator who has brought his background in Hip Hop and Rap to an educated level to try to reach children who may be considered "unreachable" with more typical varieties of teaching. He goes by the name of Mr. Duey and he has just released an album aptly called, "Class Dis-Missed". Although skeptical at… Continue

Blogging about my other Blog...

I was not sure if I could take my whole blog post from my edublog and lay it down here, so I am re-directing anyone who may want to venture over there to: wlingle.edublogs.org

I have found something really cool that edublogs advertise to put into your TextBox Widgets called a Voki Avatar. I think the possibilities are innumerable and would be a really cool way to reach students through cyberspace.

Check it out if you would like.

Bill,
The ones with title screens and transitions, etc. were done with SMART recorder, mostly on a PC. Some, like the Mac tables,I did on a Mac with the SMART recorder. The recorder on the Mac doesn't work as well as the PC version, I'm sad to say. For other ones, I think the themes ones, I used Jing. I like that program, but the videos can't be edited as easily. It saves them as flash video. But the smoothness of the video is way better than the Mac SMART recorder. When you download it, you also have to register with screencast.com. That gives you an easy place to upload them.

If you need more, just ask.

See the tip I posted on the SMART Exchange on how to search for Notebook files at http://smartboardrevolution.ning.com/forum/topics/smart-exchange-website-tip and also add any comments or input to that discussion.

Yes, that would be great. Thanks, Bill. I'm a tech. resource teacher for a grades 1-5 building and am trying to be all things to all teachers, SMARTBoards, Distance Learning, WPKY News program, eInstruction Clickers, etc., so that would really help!

I do have hand signals and they really help! I learned them from a colleague who went to a Beth Estil workshop.
a - open mouth and point in - say aaa like you are at the doctor.
e - right thumb traces your jawline as you say - e
i - pointer finger "itches" top of nose
o - tip head back and circle around mouth
u - cut hand in a "u" shape. Put cupped hand by your stomach and lift up towards your chin.
I can now use these silently to a child who isn't getting the correct sound in reading and writing. I also printed the photo story pictures and they are on 11 X 17 paper and hanging behind my reading table.
Thanks for the input. I would love suggestions pertaining to the Smart board:)

I tried getting that random name generator file. When I put it into Notebook it said that this file is not meant for offline viewing. It could be that there are several connected files that you need for it to run. They may also have it protected. Check out the comment that Obe left on the saving flash files video. He gives the link to a piece of software that downloads flash files.

Happy Easter to all! I am thankful for a site like this where we all can spread a little knowledge to each other. Well, in my case I am not spreading any, just taking it all in .i didn't read very well. Gizmoz is the real photo one. You wanted the not real photo site. I just did a google search. Here are the results. The first one was pretty easy. Thanks for the visit/compliment. My sites kinda wander here and there... kinda the way my mind does! Our local newspaper recently came to watch my kids in action and the reporter used, I believe, "jumble" as the word to describe it!
1st graders are so cool, aren't they? I'm very lucky that I get to work with kids for two years. My 2nd graders really take the lead and the 1st graders, wanting to be just like the "Old Fogies", eagerly follow. It's really amazing, as I'm sure you know, what little ones can do nowadays!
I'm so happy I found this site. Seems like Matt has created a great place for people to share. I'm off to explore more! i asked this question on the Smartboard lesson podcast website because the same thing happened to me when I tried to download their lessons. Ben Hazzard, from that podcast, said it is because of Safari. Try Firefox. It works. Once it's in the gallery you don't need the original. About the other sites, it may be possible that there are linked resources that it accesses. You may be able to download the shell file, but not all the linked assets. It's not perfect. So, what did you do from the Window--Activity menu. I found that but not how to save it after that. What did you do to actually get it to the desktop, or where ever you saved it?Welcome. I hope you find, and contribute, great ideas and make profitable connections as we all look to grow.
Thank you for read!
