How do you use a Smart Board? Please tell us a little about your interest in Smart Boards, and why you are seeking to join this community.
I am a seventh grade social studies teacher at Kennett Middle School. My curriculum covers prehistory, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. I am a technology addict/geek and love to implement tools students are excited about. Currently, I use the iPod Touch, iPod Nano, Senteos, and SmartBoard in my classroom.
I have two daughters (Sierra, 17 and Kaede, 3) and two dogs (Milo, Lafghan and Chloe, Golden Doodle). My husband, Jim, is in the pharmaceutical/medical device business.
Like the pictures ... I have one of them John Deere's also!
I use the Airliner several ways ... as a teacher tool I can move about the room and as I tell my kids "Get close to the At Risk group" and still control the board. For a student tool I use it to "take the board" to them. It saves time and for older kids or those who do not like to get up front, it sort of becomes magic seeing the objects or writing appear without anyone at the board. Takes a while for some to use. I have found that in Middle School and High School it is a great way to check homework. I have the homework problems already on the board ( 1 problem per page) and take the Airliner to the student to answer. Attention is on the board and not on the student so they feel safe even when making mistakes. Hope that gives you some suggestions.
I do SMARTBoard training all the time. I have family that lives in Lancaster, PA. Let me know if you would like to pay me to do a 1/2-1 day SMARTBoard and/or Senteo training for your staff or we could team teach together. Training helps the teachers use the SMARTBoard to its full potential so I would highly recommend it. Also feel free to email me any questions.
Glad to have you on this network. Please join the MAC and Senteo groups. There is a free Notebook 10 training file for mac users in the MAC group. Feel free to share any tips, Notebook files, questions or websites in the forums or groups. We learn from each other.
