I had the same problem yesterday in a class. Half of the teachers toolbar showed up and the other half did not. We could not figure out the difference. How do you get it to show? On the windows side, you just go to view toolbars and check it. I am...

I would limit your flash files to 4 flash files per Notebook on MACs. I tend to show MAC users interactive ways to use Notebook instead of using the Toolkit. You can download my Notebook 10 training file that has several interactive examples on the last pages at http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/resources/smartboard10training.notebook

I use a MAC 10.5 and 10.4 with Notebook 10 all the time. I am still using Notebook 10 from about Feb 2009 because I like my Notebook to be reliable and work so I don't update to the latest Notebook until the update has been out about 6 months. Flash is what I have the most problems with on my MAC which all the Toolkit items are flash so I instruct users how to creatively use Notebook with little flash.

That would be great to see. If I get more I will share them too. I am in the process of working with a college in Florida who will be creating HEd specific content for us, that will be a huge help! I hope you are feeling better soon, it is awful to be sick, especially in the summer.

Hi Dianne, we just had a big adoption of SMART Boards at a career college where they have over 100 campuses across the US and Canada. You mentioned that you did a training for a technical school, can you share with me what kind of content you showed them? They are trying to adopt Notebook as a common platform but their instructional designers are having difficulty coming up with examples of HEd relevant content (I am working on it - but not much yet).

We are working on getting more examples of how educators in higher ed use NB software. Unlike K-12 teachers, we see fewer examples of NB being used for lesson activities. Most HEd users, other than perhaps those in education departments, primarily use the annotating and ink aware applications of the SMART Board in Windows or Mac applications (eg PowerPoint, Keynote), or to annotate over publisher created content. Or, they may use it to capture content from websites or have students use the board to remix and create shared content. I could go on! I am going to conduct a customer survey to find out more information but that will take some time. In the meantime, I do get some good examples via Google searches or on YouTube.

Hi Dianne - good to see you here as well. Unfortunately, I won't be at the class. I am leaving the next day for Florida so I'll be out running errands. You'll be teaching in room 106 which is right down the hall from where you taught the last time you were in the lower school. It is Rozzie Bird's classroom and she'll be in the class. Edi Houghton is the Asst. Principal and she'll be talking your class as well. Gayle, Anne, and Daniel are also from the lower school and will be beginners. If you give out flash drives again like you did last year can you leave an extra one for me with Rozzie? Pretty please.... :-)
Hope you will get some down time over the summer. Donna
