SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

Exciting research on using SMART Boards in inclusive classrooms and integrating SMART Boards with assistive technology. There is some great work being done at the Upper Canada District School Board in Ontario, Canada. Check it out -

Great work, and maybe you could show (to list) us the "special needs" software and hardware

Regards
Thanks so much for your interest in SMART Inclusion. We have attempted to integrate all of the software and hardware that has been issued for our students- software (Classroom Suite 4, Boardmaker Plus, Clicker 5, Kurzweil, Word Q, Speak Q, Inspiration, Kidspiration ....) and hardware (Dynavox Voice Output Devices, PRC Voice Output Devices, Intellikeys Keyboards, switches ....) - and the list grows daily (refer to smartinclusion.wikispaces.com ....The goal has been to help show teachers that using a SMARTBoard interface for whole group instruction with the proper theory and what was once consider "special needs" is necessary for some, good for all. For example, at the beginning of the video link above you will see a student who uses a Dynavox V, at the SMARTBoard where his teacher has created a lesson for the whole class to access using Dynavox software --- necessary for some, good for all. In all of the video examples we are attempting to create true UDL within Notebook where possible, and bringing in additional tools to create a true supportive classroom community where ALL students can access the meaningful curriculum and social participation.
