I worked with Smart support for quite some time to get this to function correctly. Here is what worked for me


Pen is working as ink and as a cursor

Hold the control key down and click on “Go” at the top of the desktop window.
Click on “Library”
Open the folder “Saved Application State”
Delete all of the “smarttech” files
Restart your computer.

Force the Board to do a firmware update
Go to “Application”
Go to “Smart Technology” folder
Click on “Firmware Updater”
Go through the windows until you arrive at the window that says the firmware is all up to date. You are going to force it to update by ctrl + shift + f
Restart the computer

The other issue was things being selected even when my finger was 2cm from the surface of the board - made it difficult to control!

Yes my issues are with writing of text. Especially in full screen.

I have attached a Notebook I did today (which was actually a lot better than when I was trying it in front of the class!), just go to "Properties" and play under "Page Recording". You can't see the text being selected but it is strange.

The text is "selected" as I write so as I am writing a letter the previous one is selected so then it moves - hard to explain! I tried it with a Macbook Pro running Windows and it was fine so it is not the SB, it is the Mac software.

I have been Beta testing for several weeks now. I have an 885 SB too....many issues are arising. SMART wants you to submit those issues via the web link they send in an email....I can only hope these will be addressed in the public issue.

Greg...what issues are you having?

The Beta version of Notebook 11.1 is supposed to be compatible with Mac OS 10.8.  Not certain when 11.1 will be released to the public.

Just tried 11.0.811.1 for Mac with OSX 10.7.5 and there was strange things going on! It was on one of the new 885 Smartboards... anyone had the same problem? Is the latest Mac release designed for 10.8 users only?

Is it possible to change the curser on the SmartBoard (the one used when typing)?
