With SplashTop the iPad is just a mirror image of the computer screen.  So it runs Flash just like your computer does.  With all Flash programs I try to limit the number of them that I use in any one lesson.  There are several options available for the stylus.Google Stylus for iPad.  I have the Idonit Jot as it gives you better precesion.  It is about $20 I think.  One other item is that the computer and the iPad have to be on the same wireless network. For some that is a problem.

Does the ipad allow flash interaction since it can't do it or is it just a mirror of the computer allowing it to work. Stylus sounds good....didn't know ipads could use a stylus. I was hoping there may have been a cheaper option...read about a genius pen mouse but it wasn't for mac...also sounded clunkier in review than advertised by sellers. I can certainly borrow an ipad to see if it would work for me before committing to the expense. A stylus on one of those mac trackpad type things would be handy. Is that possible?

As Obe mentioned below the SMART Slate is an option but takes getting use to.  Another option is using an iPad.  I use the App Splash Top and it allows you to view your computer screen on the iPad as well as the program you are running (Notebook).  The iPad becomes the SMARTBoard.  You may need a stylus to do detailed work with the iPad rather than using just your finger.  There are other Apps that will do the job as well, I just like SplashTop!

Anybody got any ideas for me? After going crazy with a whiteboard for 2 years discovered I had a calcification on a tendon which needed an op. Apparently can be contributed to by waving arm above shoulder height regularly when not used to it...mmmmm. On the road to recovery now but need alternatives to work with board. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse but still want the freedom of freehand work etc. Is there a wireless pen like mouse or something similar. Most drawing tablets seem to attach with a cord and (I'm told) work with limited programs. Any ideas for me?

The slate is fun to use but does take getting use to using it.  Middle and high school students do better with the slate than elementary as a whole.  You can find some Slate tips at http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/resources/smartboard.htm#airliner

I just found a smart slate ws200 at school.  I think I can find the correct cable to connect it to my computer.

Found some info on connecting the blue tooth

It does not have the icon strip that goes under the underlay - do I need that or can I make one?

What do you guys think about using it?  It appears like it may be fun for kids in math class.

Any tips for this MAC user with Notebook 11?  http://exchange-forum.smarttech.com/forums/p/8289/19527.aspx?lang=e...

There is a bad flashback MAC virus so if you have a MAC, please protect your computer:

1. Click on the apple in the top left corner and click on about this MAC to see what apple version you have.

2. 3 options:
A. If you have a newer MAC with Lion or 10.7 operating system, download and install the latest Java fix so you don't get the MAC virus.
Download from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1515
Install it and click next.

B. If you have MAC 10.6 or snow Leopard, download latest Java from
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1516
Install it and click next.

C. If you have a 10.5 MAC/Leopard, I would suggest you order the $30 10.6 upgrade from Apple from http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A Back up your files to a CD/DVD/usb flash drive or external hard drive. After you upgrade your computer to 10.6, then download http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1516

Another option if you have a 10.5 MAC is to download the free Sophos Antivirus that might protect you from the virus from [ http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-fo...
Install it and click next.

I reinstalled notebook and it works great. EXCEPT I lose mouse control on the computer.  It only comes back once I have closed all notebook files, which defeats the purpose of opening files for several classes.

Should I download the patch for my macbookpro running 10.7?
