Comment by Ian Berg on December 19, 2011 at 11:14am Tracey Carlson, you are correct. The only File > Import option in SMART Notebook 10.8 for Mac is .IWB format files. A workaround is to first print the PowerPoint to PDF and then drag and drop the PDF file into Notebook as described here.
Is it still impossible to import powerpoints into a mac using the import option? The last post I was able to find was in 2010.
Comment by Matt Granger on December 8, 2011 at 4:03pm Joanne Villis was reading some of these and sent this to me.
"Just reading through issues with Notebook files crashing with Mac's. Don't want to join the group as I don't use Macs however, we are running 10.7 and expereince the same problems at times especially when we try to work to quickly. For example, creating content on a page and then clicking to another page too quickly or trying to close a Notebook document too quickly rather than selecting file, save as.
Also, I've recently had Notebook documents become corrupt (ie can't open them) when I saved them directly to my external drive rather than to my desktop. SMART tech can retreive the images but not the text. Bought a new external drive or saved files to my desktop and problem hasn't occured again."
Thought I would share it with this group for her.
Comment by Obe Hostetter on December 5, 2011 at 9:18pm On each computer:
0. Quit Notebook
1. Open the Macintosh HD-Library-Application Support folder
2. Click once on the Macromedia folder
3. Click on File-get info on the Macromedia folder
4. Choose read and write for everyone.
5. Click on the wheel icon at the bottom of the window and choose to apply to enclosed items.
6. Notebook should now work.
7. If not, try this flash fix from SMART by downloading from http://downloads.smartmacsupport.com/SMART%20ToolSet.zip
If you have MAC 10.6-10.7. At this moment, this download doesn't work for 10.5 Make sure you installed the patch for Notebook 10.8 from http://www.smarttech.com/us/Support/Browse+Support/Download+Softwar...

Comment by Ann Zimmer on September 21, 2011 at 7:33am Here's a tip on importing a Power Point to notebook with a mac. Save the powerpoint as a PDF. Open the PDF and then drag the small PDF icon which is at the top in the bar right into your notebook page. This will take your entire PowerPoint into Notebook. Pretty slick!
