Here's a problem and solution that worked for me. I have SMART Notebook on the lab computers so the students can use files I've created for them in Notebook, but the last upgrade put BACK the Ink Aware toolbar which not only annoys everyone when they're in MS Word or PowerPoint but in one case caused PPT to crash repeatedly. Finally I uninstalled SMART Board Drivers which took out Ink Aware, the SMART Board icon with the x in the Dock and just left Notebook there when I need it.

A teacher of ours sent us this question and I have never encountered this---do any of you have any idea how I can help her?

I have noticed that almost all of my Smartboard lessons I've created this year for the units I cover, have many missing or deleted pages. I don't know if these are the pages I took a snapshot of (various worksheets I have on Word) or if they are the ones I have cut and paste from Word into the Smartboard. I spent quite a bit of time building these units, and now when I open them, they are all missing over half of the pages... is this normal? Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Does "locking" the page prevent this? I spent my plans yesterday re-doing my narrative and ancient greece Smartboard lesson.
Any help you could give me would be great, b/c I don't want to spend all my time today fixing this if I am doing something wrong which will cause it to happen again.
Thanks so much for your time!

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm trying to install the software needed for SMART response. I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.11. I've reinstalled the Notebook software, but wasn't there a single package with the Response software? Support says I need the "Response Wrapper," but I can't find anywhere to download the version for 10.4. Does anyone have a link or advice? Thanks!

Obe posted this earlier in the year and it worked for me:

Download this free pen fix for Notebook 10.6 from http://downloads.smartmacsupport.com/PenIcon_Switch_wRefPt_mac.zip

Does anyone know how to take off the little pen and eraser icons that appear when writing or erasing? It drives some of my teachers crazy because they weren't there when they started using Notebook.

That worked!  Thanks for your help.

Enjoy your day.l

I would uninstall using this uninstaller and try using an older version of Notebook.  Sometimes the latest Notebook software is too new for an old computer.  Try this old MAC 10.4 version.

I am using an old iBook G4 while my macbook is being checked by our tech people.  I have successfully installed the drivers and notebook software on the G4, but whenever I try to open a Notebook file, it opens and then immediately closes itself. Then the welcome screen appears.  I am not getting an error message.  This happens when I try to open existing files (of various sizes) or open a new file.

I have tried turning the computer off and back on.  An update screen appeared, so I downloaded the update hoping it would help, but the same thing is still happening.

Thanks for all the help trying to solve the problem of the pen that didn't work.  After trying all the suggestions, I called Tech Support at Smart Technologies and they are sending me a new Pen Tray.  I am really enjoying the Smart Board and use it daily with my students and this is a great resource for those of us who are just beginning.
