SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

OK, I've had Notebook 11 for a few weeks and there are some features I like, and one that is bugging me. How do you get SMART Ink to stop attaching a tab to every blessed window, sub-window that open? I have SMART Ink tabs on every email window. I can turn one off but it's very persistent. Any ideas?

I'm wondering the same thing.  SMART's Help says to disable it you should:

  1. Press SMART Ink on the toolbar.

    A drop-down menu appears.

  2. Select Erase and Hide.

But on my Mac I don't see that option.  I also don't see it in System Preferences anywhere.

That option to Erase and Hide is there when I am not connected to the SB

That's the crazy thing--I was disconnected from the board (not even in the same room) the entire next day after it first appeared and it was still there.  Although after I turned the ink off of a couple of windows and then restarted, it seems to be gone.  For now.

I did see somewhere else that you can go into Activity Monitor in your Utilities and force it to quit from there.  Haven't tried it but it might be worth looking into if you're still stuck.

I'm with Greg. The green SMART Ink tabs appear on every window when I connect my Mac to a board. While connected I can't remove the tabs short of force-quitting the application in Activity Monitor. When I unplug the board the tabs turn yellow. Clicking on them then gives me the option to Erase and Hide.

BTW, I LOVE the new window-specific ink layers. This is to me the absolute killer makes-me-push-the-upgrade feature of Notebook 11. Thanks for bringing this to the Mac, SMART!

For Windows, go to MSConfig and turn off the start up item called SmartInk.

I know this was for Macs, but in the Google search for turning this feature off it was one of the first links.

Sounds daunting. I'll wait until school gets out for that. Thanks for the help.

We mainly use SMART Ink for Internet websites.  Do you have directions or a file we can copy to only allow SMART ink to work for just Internet browsers (Safari or Firefox on MAC) and Internet Explorer and Firefox on Windows?
