SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

We have mac computers at our district, and on some of the computers when you put full screen up there is no toolbar to select pens, toggle to a different page or get out of full screen.  Some of the computers do have the toolbar, does anyone know what determines whether there is a toolbar or not?  Or how to change a setting so that the toolbar does show in full screen?

Hi Anna,

This should be an 'easy fix' -- simply right-click on the SMART Board Tools icon in your dock, then select "Show Floating Tools" (or alternatively, "Hide Floating Tools" if you want to get rid of them)

I think I just pasted an image of this icon below, although it's still in HTML code, so I'm hoping it shows up when I post it! lol

Good luck! Let me know if this works :)

when i say floating tools i dont' mean the actualy "floating tools" i mean the floating toolbar that only appears when you are in full screen in a file... the one that you use to scroll through pages, select pens and select the icon to return back to normal screen
Haha - sorry for the misinterpretation!

I found this article on SMART's website discussing the potential reasons for this issue as well as how to fix it:

I found that after installing SMART Response 2.5 on MAC 10.5, the network home users didn't have the floating toolbar in full screen. I did discover that the local admin account worked perfectly fine in full screen mode. I copied this file from the local admin user-library-preference-com.smarttech.Registry.plist to the home networked user and it fixed my problem. If you find a computer that is working, copy the com.smarttech.Registry.plist file to the problem computer and see if that fixes it provided your computers are imaged the same with the same software.
Hi Obe, I tried that fix and shut the computer down and turned it back on and it still did not wor for me. Any other ideas?
Ideas to try:
1. Read this pdf by SMART
2. There is an update to SMART Response/Notebook that might fix the problem.
3. I would contact SMART at 1.866.518.6791 and see if they can send you a registry file that would work.
