A Revolution in Education
I get this message on my MacBook Pro when I forget to connect the usb cable from the document camera to my laptop.
Also note the the USB ports are of different power, so try swapping it in an out of different ports to see if that makes a difference.
What operating system are you running? I've had issues with connecting the Doc Cam 330 to Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard (older operating systems on both Mac & Windows seem to work).
I phoned SMART tech support, and they suggested a couple of potential fixes:
1. Update your drivers to 10.7 -- I personally would NOT recommend doing this just yet, as I've heard that many users (especially those using Macs) are having other glitches that occur from doing this.
2. Check to see in the Doc Cam itself whether or not it's set in the correct mode. Go into "Menu" and check to see if under the USB icon the "applications" mode is selected, rather than the "SD storage" mode.
3. See if you can manually force the drivers to run. Generally, these would be found in your Applications --> SMART Product Drivers --> Doc Cam Drivers --> SD 330
Hopefully one of these helps! I haven't had a chance to try connecting again to a SD 330 since I was given this advice 2 days ago, but I'll hopefully get my hands on one again this week.
I know that this was way back in January but others may continue to have these issues.
Also check that you have only one SMART Notebook file open. The document camera can only communicate with one active file and sometimes when I have multiple files open it will only work in the first file I opened/interacted with.
