I don't have one yet. My Smartboard was just installed today and it is still not completely hooked up. I hope to have more information when installation is complete.

Hi - just joined this ning.... seems helpful. I'm an 8th grade social studies teacher and wondering if anyone has great resources for using the smartboard with social studies. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rachel

SMART boards are an excellent tool for social studies. Some of the social studies teachers have used Google Earth, Google maps, videos from YouTube, TeacherTube and Discovery Education on the SMART Boards. They have also created interactive and multimedia lessons in Smart Notebook software. Do you have a particular topic for social studies you are looking for?

Rachel,

I teach 8th grade social studies also. I'm in the process getting my SMART Board installed, so I don't have any resources yet. But, as I encounter lessons and resources, I'll share them with you!

Just joined the Middle School Group and although most of my Notebook lessons are for Elementary Mathematics there are many of them that could be utilized in the Middle School. All of the lessons are available for download and sharing with all. See them on my homepage http://almarolh.googlepages. com.
Enjoy

Harvey,

I really like your "function man" smart board creation. I am just getting into teaching one & two step equations to my 7th graders. That chapter ends with functions and I was looking for a fun way to begin before using an interactive function machine on the shodor website.

Thanks for sharing.

Although most of my Notebook lesson are for Elementary School Mathematics, there are quite a few that could be used in Middle School Mathematics. You may download any of them and share with all. They are all located on my homepage ... http://almarolh.googlepages.com. I hope you are able to use some of them.

Rachel,
What topics do you cover in 8th grade social studies?

Do not have many sites. But I do have many Notebook files that I have developed. Thought I would share a Senteo question set I will be using with my Pre Algebra class on Angle relations and transformations.

Here is a resource I stumbled on for Social Studies. The site also has resources for other subject areas as well... http://teach.fcps.net/trt27/SocialStudies.htm

I will be in my second year of teaching a computer literacy course to 6th grade students this fall. I have had access to a SMART Board and used it heavily in developing activities and games. It really helped that I got my IT department to install the Notebook software on all of my lab machines so that products I created using the Lesson Activity Toolkit could be downloaded and played by students. Check out the assignments link and especially the activities page on my site: http://sites.google.com/site/mskcomlit/
