SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

I am having trouble tagging questions ever since I downloaded Notebook 11.

Here is the error message I get:

Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application.  If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.  Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

If I click Continue, the box with the tags comes up empty.  It says NY Core Curriculum, but that is it!

If I hit Details instead of continue, I get this VERY long error message.

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

See the end of this message for details on invoking

************* JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:  configuration>

    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception  will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

can you help me?

Thanks  Sandy

I see error messages that probably concern Microsoft Visual C++ and Microsoft .NET Framework.   Close SMART Notebook and try these steps:

1.  You will want to have the current release of Windows Installer installed first.  If it is Windows 7 SP1, then the Windows Installer 5.0 is probably installed and up to date.  To update for another version of Windows, install Windows Installer 4.5 from here:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483

2.  Ensure Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 is installed on the computer.  On a 32 bit version of Windows visit here:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555      Or if the computer runs a 64 bit version of Windows visit here:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

3.  Download and run the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) from here:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851

4.  Open Windows Control Panel and go to Programs and Features.  Select SMART Response and if Repair is an available option, select it.  Do the same for SMART Notebook.

Reopen SMART Notebook and try tagging the questions again.  If the issue still occurs, check at Microsoft Update if there are more updates available:  http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Thank you for your response.  It has taken me a while, but I went through all of your suggestions.  I even uninstalled and then reinstalled smart response software, but I am still getting the same error message.

Tags already on my computer are still there,but I cannot create any new assessments.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Sandy

Hi Sandy, have you checked with version of .net your computer is running (if that was within all of that really long code, and I somehow missed it, I apologize) . We were having an issue with the "browse" button not doing anything. It was suggested that I update my .net, and now it seems to work just fine.
