SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

My senteo receiver doesn't work. When it is plugged into a computer, I get a red light. I called SMART Tech support. They are not able to figure it out. Anyone else had a similar problem?

Ideas to try:

1. The Senteo receiver light changes from red to green when the Senteohardwareservice and Senteosoftwareservice run. You can try to manually run these by going to Macintosh HD-Applications-Senteo folder.
2. Try a local admin account instead of a managed account
3. Uninstall and reinstall the Senteo software
On the phone right now with SMART Tech support because my Response system won't activate on my new laptop running Vista. Never had a problem with it before? If I find an answer I'll post it.
They did send me this link to uninstall and reinstall the Drivers, but it didn't work for me. I didn't see the SMART hardware under the Serial Bus. PLUS, in Vista, the Hardware tab wasn't just right there under System, I had to go to "Remote Settings" on the side to get into the Hardware tab.

Maybe this will help others, though.
When I switched to Vista last year my clickers wouldn't work either. I had the 64 bit version loaded. My tech support tried everything to get it to work. Finally, they reghosted my machine with the 32 bit version and it worked just fine. Now I have Windows 7 (64 bit) and the same problem. I am waiting for SMART to finish their current updates. I was told via the grapevine that there may be more SMART Response updates coming in addition to the Jan. 14 release, and then I will try the 32 bit, if necessary. I miss my clickers : (

SMART, please update!!!!
SMART did release an update to Notebook on Jan. 14th and then on Jan. 18th released an update to SMART Response. It can be downloaded at http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-US/Support/Downloads/SMARTResponse/...For best results, I would uninstall everything relating to SMART from your computer, restart and then install the latest software. You may also want to contact SMART Tech Support at a 1.866.518.6791 since they are very friendly and helpful with solving problems.
Anyone have trouble after going to Full Screen in Notebook after the upgrade to 10.6? I could move TO Full Screen, but then I couldn't find the icons to go BACK to the regular screen. I used the keyboard shortcut Command--F, but it doesn't always work the first time I click it.
Has anyone come across a fix or information re getting the senteo reciever to work on a 64-bit windows 7 rig?
here is the responce form SMART

Thank you for contacting SMART Technologies. I understand you have a question about getting your SMART Response™ interactive assessment software working on a Windows & 64 Bit operating system.
SMART Response software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system (32 Bit). We do not currently have a work around for getting the software to work with the 64 bit OS. We are working on a software update that will allow the 64 bit OS to be compatible with our software however no release date is set as of yet. If you would like to request this feature you can send a request to our usability department. Our usability department handles all feature requests including OS compatibility requests; you can contact them at usability@smarttech.com.
Any idea when you will be getting around to fixing the problem with the 64 OS? I would really like to continue using SMART Response clickers, and don't feel its fair to my students to lose this very expensive learning tool simply because I now have a newer machine to work off. (Our building has 4 class sets of the SMART Response so far). I was looking around online, and it seems the Beta version of the 64-bit version of Windows 7 was available in Jan. 2009. Promethean's ActiveInspire has 64-bit drivers available for Windows 7, vista, and XP, so I can only guess that the 64-bit OS problem has been an issue for somewhere around 4 years now? When can we expect a release date?
64-bit Windows OS support will be coming in the next release, slated for the May/June time frame.
I just bought the responders and I am having the same problem.

Did you try uninstalling the driver in Device Manager? Check the USB and COM ports. Then unplugging and re-plugging the receiver.
