SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

For years I've used a SMART Slate/WS100 with my PC with no problems. Last week I connected a borrowed SMART Slate/WS200 to my PC for a day's training. Here's the problem. When I try to pair/discover my WS100, my PC thinks the 200 is still connected and does not give the option to disconnect it, nor to pair the 100. Help!

Question: Which Bluetooth Adapter are you using to connect the Airliner, and also which did you use to connect the WS200?  Is it with the adapter that came with the Airliner or WS200?  or another adapter/internal Bluetooth Adapter?

Also, what version of Windows are you using currently?

Just trying to get a better picture of the situation, but there isn't much to work on, so a little more information will definitely go a long way.

Thanks Randy for the prompt response! To hopefully answer your questions, I'm running XP SP3 and using the  internal wireless bluetooth on my Acer 6493 which is Broadcom Corporation. - Bluetooth Software Version 5.1.0.4500. Both times I connected the Slates wirelessly by discovery in My Bluetooth Places.

Thanks for your continued assistance.

Okay, so by my understanding of what you've described earlier, if you go to My Bluetooth Places, you'll see the WS200 listed there, but when you right click on it, your delete option is greyed out?

Additionally, when you go to pair your WS100 Airliner, you're connecting the device labelled "SMART Wireless Slate" and not "SMART Slate WS200" correct? Any devices that you've previously connected will show up in the Bluetooth Device Selection list, regardless of whether or not the devices are even on and in a discoverable state or not.

(See Attached image: BTairliner.png)

Something else you can check if that is the case is to see if the WS200 is listed in your device manager when you connect your airliner to the computer. If the computer really thinks your WS100 Airliner slate is a WS200 SMART Slate, then you should see an entry for the SMART Slate listed under Human Interface Devices. If this is the case, please right click on it and select Uninstall. Once removed, try reconnecting the Airliner to your computer (remembering that it is labelled as SMART Wireless Slate)

Please give these suggestions a try and let me know what happens after.

I followed your suggestions. Here are the results.

In the Device Manager, I found Airliner Wireless Slate, but not the WS200 listed. So I removed it and restarted my PC. When I opened My Bluetooth Places to add a device, both the WS 200 and the Wireless Slate were still visible in the window. So I added a bluetooth device/SMART Wireless Slate. However, it did not connect as expected. The options were the same as before.

I seem to back at the same place I was before, except the Airliner is no longer listed in the Device Manger.

FYI, listed Human Interface Devices in the Device Manager are:

Bluetooth Remote Control

Bluetooth Virtual HID Device

HID-compliant consumer control device

HID-compliant device

USB Human Interface Device

USB Human Interface Device

Thanks for your continued assistance.

There are still some things that are concerning to me, like why the devices weren't listed in the Device Manager.  I'm wondering, are you able to disable the Internal Bluetooth and try using the Bluetooth module that came with the airliner?  I'd be interested in seeing what kind of behaviour the airliner would exhibit on your computer using the other Bluetooth connection.

If you are unable to do that, there is one other thing you can try.  If you open up My Bluetooth Place, there should be a menu on the left side of the window that says "View Devices in Range".  If you open this option up, you should see the Wireless Slate and the Airliner listed here.  If they are, right click on each device and then select "Disable".  This should remove the device from the computer and then try to pair up the Airliner again.

Give that a shot, and we'll go from there; hopefully the situation will improve.

Randy,

Thanks for all your help. I appreciate you talking me through the troubleshooting tips. I was finally able to pair the Airliner.

Cheers,

Lori
