SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

Who out there is using Windows 7 and Notebook 10.6?  What kind of issues are you experiencing?  We have tried it on 3 computers and have experienced some strange behavior.

For instance if you try to use the shade you can't pull it down from the top, it will actually pull the whole window up and down but not release the shade.

If you drag objects to the work area, it won't let you move them around, or it will sometimes. That includes written objects.

If you try to use the shape tool, you cannot open up the shape. Bizarre.

It must be a mouse issue. I have tried turning on touch recognition. No change.

I tried mouse enabled, no change.

I have Windows 7 and Notebook 10.6 and I am not having any of the problems you have stated. Everything is working smoothly.
We had the same issue, but believe we have figured out the solution. Go to "Control Panel", "Pen and Touch", then the "Panning" tab. You must uncheck the "turn on single finger panning". Disabling this option appears to fix the problem.

Another solution we found was to change to "full Screen" mode in notebook, then the scroll bar disappears and it doesn't try and pan.

I hope that helps.
I am using Windows 7 and Notebook 10.6. The problem I am having is that when I touch the screen a small diamond appears each time I touch and that diamond has disappearing circles around it. I am certain this is a control panel option that I can turn off, but I can't figure out what it is?
That would be Windows 7 Tablet PC drivers causing this, which in turn, is being provoked by the SMART Tablet PC drivers. Removing the SMART Tablet PC drivers will remove the "waterdrop" clickthat you are seeing.

What you will want to do first is bring up a Command prompt window with administrator rights. Click on Start, and then in the search box at the bottom of your start menu, type in cmd; don't press enter just yet! You'll notice that once you have typed in the 3 letters, there will be a CMD entry within your search results. Right click on this, and select "Run as administrator". If you have User Account Control turned on, you will be prompted if you wish to continue or not; select "continue", and this will open up a command prompt window.

Depending on what version of Windows 7 you are running, the commands necessary to perform this task will differ. If you are using a 32-bit version of Windows 7, please type in the following command:

"C:\Program Files\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers\PNP Drivers\DriverInstaller.exe" -u " c:\Program Files\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers\PNP Drivers\"

If you are using 64-bit version of Vista, run this instead:

"c:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers\PNP Drivers 64\DriverInstaller64.exe" -u " c:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers\PNP Drivers 64\"

Running the above command will remove the drivers causing that to occur. OR you can download one of the attached batch files that best applies to your computer (these may not work on a non-admin account; if you find they do not work, please follow the long instructions above).

Wow! Can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the batch file! This new school year is only days old and I've already used it a ton! Thanks for taking time and going through the process.
Randy,
I have a Windows 7 Professional installed on my 32 bit laptop. I have turned off single finger panning but the SMARTboard has a very very slow reponse to the floating tools. When you drag the floating toolbar to an area of the desktop it drags behind about 3 inches from your touch and then disappears for a short time and then reappears. I'm not having any problems within the notebook with slow responsiveness.

Do you think if turn of the PC drivers that is will help the reponsiveness on the desktop?

Thanks,

Susan
Brian stole my thunder. I was going to offer the same advice.

I'm not totally happy with the size of one of the mouse cursors when using my slate. It is very hard to see in certain positions when I am further from the board.
Here's an official response from Smart:

I understand you are experiencing issues with Windows 7 and attempting to move objects in SMART Notebook software. Please follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

Try the steps outlined in this document to turn off single finger panning in Windows 7:
If that does not work, go into Windows Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > right click on SMART Virtual Tablet PC and click disable. Restart if your computer requests it.

If that does not work, please ensure you are running the most up to date version of SMART Notebook software and SMART Product Drivers. The full version number of all installed SMART software can be found on a machine by clicking on "Check for Updates" from any help menu, or from the SMART Board Tools icon in your system tray. The most recent version of SMART Notebook software is 10.6.141.1 (if not using SMART Response interactive response software) or 10.6.219.2 (if using Response).
