Thanks for the info. I would've tested the issue on a blank Notebook file, because we are aware of some issues related to "scanned" files and writing on them in Notebook. So that's definitely something we can look into.
Do you by any chance have that file that you tested this on with the scanned document? if you could upload it for me so I can take a look at it and test it out just to confirm.
In regards to the orientation issue, try the steps indicated below:
1) Go Start > Run and type regedit
2) Press OK
3) In the registry Editor, right-click on My Computer at the very top of the tree and select Export and save the file as Backup to the desktop
4) Now go to the following location in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies\SMART Board Drivers
5) Under SMART Board Drivers there should be a list of keys called Board1, Board2, Board3, etc. Delete all of them (make sure to only delete the keys that have the word Board and a number after)
6) On your controller, click on the reset button and hold for 5 seconds
7) Once done, go ahead and orient the board in 9 points then in 12 points
This usually helps with most orientation issues.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies Inc.\SMART Board Software
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies\SMART Board Drivers
You can delete both Board1 keys and continue the steps above.

Permalink Reply by Habib S on October 18, 2011 at 9:25am Thanks Scott,
I don't seem to have a problem with it all. What kind of boards do you have and are you using Windows 7 or Windows XP?

Permalink Reply by Habib S on October 18, 2011 at 4:06pm In regards to the 17MB Notebook file, i would definitely try and lower that size down. Are these mainly imported images of the book? if so make sure you use the File > Export Optimized File so that it shrinks down the size of all the images within Notebook and converts it to a much smaller and workable file size. (the export optimized file is a new 10.8 feature)
In regards to the teacher using Word, is this an issue only when she writes in word? or does it also happen on her desktop with Ink Layer and in Notebook?

As far as the Word issue, it doesn't always happen in Word. She brought up a blank Notebook file and started writing towards the top of page and the text angled up a little, she said what I was seeing wasn't near as bad as it had been earlier in the day, she's going to call me when it's happening so I can see it.
