SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

When I write on my Smartboard, the pen icon is always present and does not disappear. It is really annoying. Can you help me to fix the problem?

I use Notebook 11 but I had the same problem with the previous version of the software.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Greetings from Italy.

Hi Francesa,

What specific Operating System are you using? (Windows or OSX) and to confirm, you are using a SMART Board as oppose to a SMART Slate, correct?

The reason I ask is because since SMART Notebook 10.7, we have prevented the pen icon from appearing when interacting on the board within Notebook, so I'm quite surprised that you are experiencing the issue.

Please let me know.

- David

Hi David,

thanks for your reply!

I am using Windows 7 and I am not using a Smart Slate. That issue happens when I normally write on the board using Notebook. While I am writing, you can see the pen icon following my pen and in the end, if I don't choose the "end of action" the icon still stays there, sometimes covering the words :-(

Other three Smartboards are experiencing the same issue in my school...

Kind regards.

Francesca

Hi Francesca,

If you don't mind, perhaps we can try a full cleanup of SMART software on your machine and then re-install SMART Notebook 11.

I am providing you with a link if you do want to pursue this option (After download, right-click and run as administrator. You'll be notified of its completion when a notepad file launches open) For best results, run it after a system restart.

Cleanup Tool

Hopefully, after a cleanup and a re-install, we will see an improvement.

Regards,

- David

Will try on Monday! Thanks a lot for your help.

Francesca

I used the cleanup tool and re-installed the whole software, but the pen icon is still there when I write and goes away only if I click on the arrow to end the previous action.

Problem not solved yet :-(((

What can I do now????

Francesca

Hi Francesca,

I can't be certain if this will have any effect on SMART Notebook 11, however, we used to have a tool which allowed Mac users to turn on/off the pen cursor at the click of a button. So please give it a try and see what happens (be sure to quit Notebook software first)

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting SMART Technical Support line for remote-desktop-style assistance.

- David

I will try on Monday, let's cross our fingers :-)

Thanks a lot.
