Notebook files won't open!
For some bizarre reason, I cannot open any notebook files saved on my PC. This has just started and I am not sure what it new. I just updated my software; I guess it could be related. Any ideas? Thanks.

We had this issue on MAC and generally restarting the computer fixed the problem. Some other ideas might be to add .notebook after the filename. E.G. file.notebook
You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling Notebook again and if that doesn't work, contact Smarttech.

I wish I thought of that!!! I updated recently and assumed that it was a bad install so I uninstalled and then tried to reinstall. Now I have a bigger program...........the installation gets hung up and will not install at all. Been in touch with tech-support and they're stumped.... Thanks for your tip!

Installation problems can be troubling. I have a lot of tips and tricks for installation problems and Notebook file recovery problems.
For example, most files with only slight-damage can be automatically repaired with SMART Notebook installed. To do this, a user can drag and drop the icon of the faulty file from their desktop straight into SMART Notebook. This tells the software to ignore most of the extra data and to raw-import the pages.
In regards to installation problems - the error message is going to give you a heads up on the problem. Sometimes you may need to install the software one piece at a time. However, I would recommend opening a communication to SMART's technical support staff for this one. They can be engaged via chat on their support site, and can setup a remote session with you to troubleshoot the problem with you in realtime (without you even needing to be on the phone).
