A Revolution in Education
My question is the Language Teachers want to type with Accent Marks in Notebook 11 and with Notebook 10 they use to have the options with Symbols ... and now Notebook 11 doesn't seem to have Symbols...Can anyone tell me what to do?

I teach German and often use the ALT+4 letter code for German letters when using my keyboard. For the SmartBoard itself, I have Notebook 11 set up to recognize both English and German. I forgot how I did that (sorry), but it will convert my handwriting with German characters to text.

Permalink Reply by Katie Strand on September 27, 2012 at 10:31pm Just downloaded the Notebook 11 update and I too am surprised to see that I can't make accent marks anymore! (I'm a Spanish teacher). The fixes suggested don't seem to work for me, any other solution would be welcome.

For the time being, the only consistent workaround to create accented characters in SMART Notebook 11 is to use the 'ALT+XXXX' hotkeys as suggested by Julie. However, SMART is aware of this issue and it will be addressed in the Service Pack being released later this Fall.
