A Revolution in Education
Is anyone else having issues with Notebook 11 making your computer extremely slow and sometimes not responsive. Several teachers at our building are having these computer issues and they all have had notebook updated recently to 11. When my computer is not responding (usually when I open a notebook file or other document or try to link to a website), I open Task Manager and when I click End Task for the "Lab View Runtime", my computer will then respond. But I'm tired of doing this 6-8 times a day. Our tech is baffled. Any similar experiences or solutions? TIA (am seriously considering uninstalling and putting 10 back on-if that is even possible, OR hoping that SMART will have a fix on an update.)
Permalink Reply by Obe Hostetter on August 27, 2012 at 3:42pm Notebook 11 does use more memory. I would contact SMART and see if you can get it fixed or working better. Call SMART at 1.866.518.6791.
If you continue to have issues, I would uninstall Notebook 11 and install Notebook 10.8 from

Also, Smart Ink is having issues in Power Point, Flash items are slow, and previously constructed files from version 10 don't always look the same in version 11: tabbed text gets shoved together.
Did you get your issues fixed, or did you go back to version 10? We have PCs.
Permalink Reply by Diane Foose on September 18, 2012 at 11:20am I am ready to go back to 10. I would like to first find out if Smart is going to provide a fix for some of the problems. If it was just slower, I could handle that, but the freezing is frustrating. Any time I link to a website or open a file from within notebook, everything stops. I need to go through task manager to "end task" (Lab View Runtime), and then go back to my file and open again.
Also the ability to group and ungroup by shaking is causing issues. I can just be moving an item that I had previously grouped, and it will ungroup itself. Then I have to regroup and the new location of the items doesn't always make regrouping easy.
Some object animations within Notebook don't work. I had previously made objects spin and advance to the next page (by linking). Now nothing spins.
I'm wondering if anyone knows if Smart is going to fix these issues soon.
Permalink Reply by Christopher Boettger on September 25, 2012 at 7:46am I have the same "group shaking" problem. I find it annoying because I have to constantly re-group! I called Tech about another problem which is, that my screen capture tool captures images but they are all lines and not clear, I was told by tech "Guy", that he acknowledged it is an issue with Smart Notebook 11 and Apple Snow Leopard (10.6) and that it will be fixed in a patch they are releasing in October, hope they fix that problem too!
Permalink Reply by Richard Lisle on September 19, 2012 at 10:39am We've just updated to Notebook 11 and it does seem to take an eternity to load no matter which computer I try it on, but to be honest, once it has started I don't close it until the end of the day so it isn't a major problem.
One issue I have though, and I don't know if it is just me, but I can't find a way to change the default line thickness. I was able to do it in version 10, but here I can't. I have tried changing it through the properties tab and then clicking on 'save tool properties' but to no effect. It's driving me mad having to select the line thickness every time I pick up a pen or use the eraser and then go back to the same pen... aarrggh!

I knew it would be something simple. Thank you very much
