SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

I just finish training a group of fellow teachers on the skills in Notebook Level 1. I am very happy to report that all went well. Lion and Notebook 10.8 did very well together. I divided the presentation into 8 small files and used only the already made examples in the Lesson Activity Toolkit instead of risking a crash because of too many flash items. 10.8 seems like it is a very stable version of Notebook. One thing I am noticing is that I do have to orient the board everyday even though it has not been moved. Needless to say I was very pleasantly surprised.

Hi Gord - Anything else I can do - I disabled the restore feature but I am still having the crash issue.  I can't help but think that is is somehow related to the mirroring feature somehow....

I just bought a Mac Book Air with Lion and I am having trouble getting Flash to work on the smart board software.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

Since we still don't support Lion, I can't promise we'll be able to help fix the issue, but we'll definitely try to help.

What kind of issues are you having?

When I try using one of the activities with Flash (for example the Vortex activity) the flash loads to 99.5% and then stops loading.  It freezes at 99.5 every time.  Thanks for trying to help.

This sounds like the Flash Trust files not getting written correctly, or getting corrupted.

Easiest way to fix this is through the use of the SMART Toolset app one of the guys here at tech support services created.

Get the Toolset here:

Download the zip file, and extract it.  Run the app file within and the Toolset window should pop up.  Once open, you should see a command field where you can type stuff in.  To fix your problem, type in flash995 and run that command.
You may be prompted for credentials when running this command.  Once completed, a window should pop up saying its Completed.  When you see that, the problem should be fixed.   Open up Notebook, and see if anything has changed in your gallery.
Give it a try and please let me know what happens in the end.

Randy,

I REALLY appreciate the fact that you are willing to take on the "Lion issue",without saying "SMART is not supporting LION at this time." Lion is here to stay and it seems like instead of avoiding it,you are trying to figure it out and work with us. We do not expect a solution in the near future. Not being shut down when a LION question is asked on this forum is very much welcome and goes a long way towards being patient.

Thank you for your patience and willingness to help.

It worked!  Thank you, Randy!!  The SMART Toolset worked like a charm.  Thank you to everyone who responded and tried to help.  I was thinking of taking back my Mac Air but now I don't have to.

and on a iMac, i've type the flash995 in the mac pop-up ...but the camera capture tool is still not working. thanks anyway

Yes, unfortunately the camera capture tool app is not compatible with Lion, there isn't a workaround for it unless we make a new app for Lion.

Thanks for the super rapid answer :)
A work around on Mac is command+shift+4 to take the screen shot. You'll get the crosshairs to select what you want. Sure, it doesn't go directly into notebook, but it's on the desktop waiting to be dragged into notebook.
Awesome find on a mac.  I knew cmd shift 3 was full screenshot but didn't know there was a selection option with the 4.  This is great and will help us along until there is a fix for snapshot.
