Notebook 10.8 Files on Macs Crashing When Opening a Page with Flash Objects

Hi Folks--

We have been having a few issues using Notebook 10.8.238.0 with SMBD Drivers 10.8.247.1 on Macs with OS 10.6.8, 10.7.4 or 10.7.5.

Whenever someone opens a NB file and tries to select a page with Flash objects, the NB file crashes.

Any suggestions to resolve this issue?

Flash doesn't work well in Notebook on MAC.  I generally discourage teachers from using the Lesson Activity Toolkit and encourage teachers to create their own interactive activities using layers and colors or use web-based Flash activities.  If I delete the flash objects in a Notebook file, it is amazing how often that fixes any wierd issues the Notebook file had.  

Tips to try:

1. Save the Notebook file to a local hard drive instead of the server to see if it makes a difference.  Save it to the Macintosh HD-users-shared folder or a usb flash drive.  Then load the Notebook file from the shared folder or a usb flash drive and see if the flash works better.  This has helped our teachers.  

2. Navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Macromedia folder.  Click once on the folder to highlight it.  Click on file-get info.   Change the folder's permission to read/write access for everyone and apply the changes to the enclosed items.
