On one machine in our building, the toolbar at the top (or bottom) of the Notebook screen is missing. How do we get it back?

Try clicking on the white box on the top right corner of the window. Lots of teachers will click the white box in the top right corner which hides your tools in any software.
If that doesn't fix it, try deleting the com.smarttech files from user-library-preferences
