SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

I am having trouble with my mac with parallels.  First, there is no smart stuff on the parallels side.  I suspend it when using the smart board. Also all my files save with the two red parallels lines on the icon.

It is sinks the green light is on.  I may or may not be able to write when I pick up a pen. If I can it will not work a second time or if I hold the pen for a half a minute or so.  I can turn on the pens from the tool bar but it does not work.

Is there something in the set up I need to do to get out the bugs?

I would install the SMART Board drivers (and Notebook if you want) on the parallels (windows version?).  This way, when you are using parallels, the SMART Board has the drivers or software to work.  Download software from http://www.smarttech.com/us/Support/Browse+Support/Download+Software Register using the same product key you used on the MAC side to activate.

Thanks,

I tried that and the computer slowed down so much I could not advance slides with mouse in any windows program

Also the Smart notebook did not fully work here either.

I will hope for others and smart 11

We are a MAC school district and run SMART Board Notebook 10.7 on our MACs running 10.5 and 10.6.  Is there software or a reason you need to run parallels?

I wish I did not have to run parallels, but I have all of my social studies notes in power point - I am working on moving to an on line program, but have not had time.

I always run the smart notebook software with parallels in suspension and sometimes stopped.

Should I reinstall notebook?  Also, for some reason it did not install to the doc this time I installed - at NTTI it was recommended to remove the disk install and reinstall all from on line.  I am not fully sure I got rid of all the smart software from the mac side.  I know I did from parallels.  I uninstalled some and moved some to the trash that did not come up with an uninstall button and deleted it from the trash.  Did I miss something?

Thanks for all your help on this.

It is frustrating for the kids when drag and put stuff in order only works for the first two kids.

PowerPoint on the MAC works great too but you do have to buy it.  A free PowerPoint software option is OpenOffice.org (Impress is the PowerPoint part of that suite).  I have several teachers using OpenOffice for their PowerPoints on the MACs.

Installing SMART Notebook on a MAC can be tricky.  Here is what I would suggest.

1. Download and run the SMART Toolset This should delete and clean up any SMART remains.

2. Download and install SMART Notebook.

I have some MAC troubleshooting tips posted at http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/resources/smartboard.htm#troublesho...

Obe,

I downloaded Open Office and put my powerpoints into it and it works great - only Now I need to learn a new program.  It accepted some of my plain backgrounds and not others.  oh well!

I also redownloaded the software to the mac side and it works well - no ending the program today - it must be the parallels.

I did encounter a loss of cursor on my computer after using the smart board but it seems to come back once I move off to the corner and get that screen with everything on it.  I also forgot I do have the smart board that I can click on.  also superscripts were lost as well as arrows created by --> but we can live with it.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

I will try the writer tomorrow for a word document.
