A Revolution in Education
I'm new to this website. I'm hoping I'm posting in correct place.
Looking for equipment! I’m a teacher who has moved and started teaching in the Southern Bronx of New York. The school I’m at is a charter school and is moving into a building that is being gutted and rebuilt from the ground up (which is very exciting!). Unfortunately, because we are a Charter school (not for profit but community based) we have to pay rent ourselves as DOE doesn’t support that. This leaves no money to invest in any new technology at this time in our budget. I’ve been desperately looking to find a company or foundation to adopt our school or use it as a “model” school that could work out for both the technology company and our selves. At this time we don’t have any Smart boards or tech. tools other than one cart with laptops students get to use 1 per week. Being in one of the poorest economic area’s in the country, it is not surprising that most students I teach don’t have technology at home either and I can see the gap in their learning because of this compared to the school I was previously at that did have extensive technology for students. I’m desperately looking for sponsors that would like to be part of a new school in a brand new building that could show in real time proof that this technology really does make a difference in the students learning. I am looking into as many grants as I can write but any help or suggestions that you might have or that any of you out there know of would be greatly appreciated. I miss my Smartboard (Didn’t realize how much until I took a position in a school without them) and dream of bringing one into my new students lives who seem to be as excited about technology as I am.
