Permalink Reply by Abby Mowry on March 1, 2011 at 6:39pm I have a mac and haven't been able to figure it out either. I have just learned to hide it behind my page sorter or move it all the way to the side so that I barely see it. Sorry! If you find a solution let me know!!
Permalink Reply by Obe Hostetter on March 1, 2011 at 7:39pm You can turn off the ink aware by:
1. System Preferences
2. SMART Control Panel
3. Click on Configure SMART Tools
4. Select Ink Aware Program Settings
5. Uncheck everything.
Another option is that you can rename the aware app in Applications-SMART Board/Product Drivers folder. Sometimes it is in the additional tools folder. We rename it because we don't use the ink aware with Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
I unchecked everything and it is still there. I found the app in the additional tools folder but it will not let me rename it. ideas???

1. Click once on the aware app. Click on File-get info (Apple + I). Change the permissions for others or everyone to read and write. Close that window. Now you can rename it.
OR
2. Just delete the app. If you delete it, you will need to reinstall SMART Board/Product Drivers if you ever need it again or copy if from a similar computer.
Permalink Reply by Renee Lubaway on March 4, 2011 at 6:15am Thanks. I finally went to the Control Panel in Notebook and clicked on the Ink Aware icon and got a pop up that had Word, Exel, and PowerPoint checked. Unchecked them and Ink Aware is gone.
Yeah!!!!!

Plesha on June 12, 2012 at 11:14am Hello, I'm using a SMART Podium display with Camtasia on a mac to record PowerPoint lectures for a distance learning class I'm teaching. The preceding dialogue for turning off the Ink Aware tools in Microsoft PowerPoint has been very helpful. I found the slide control popup window in PowerPoint to be very annoying. More troublesome was that the movies I have embedded in my PowerPoint slides would not play if SMART Board Tools was running. By turning off the Ink Aware tools, in addition to the popup window being gone, the movies now play correctly. Thanks to all for the tips.
