SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

Unfortunately, my Airliner dropped, and now the charging cable won't make a connection. The airliner will not be repaired by the technicians in the district because of the drop.

Since it still had a charge, I used it, and it works. But I don't have a way to charge it again. I thought about pairing up with another teacher, borrowing her Airliner to charge the rechargeable battery. Would this work?  Do you have an idea of what else I can do?

I have a thought...maybe the battery is dead and needs replacing! I'll see about this on Monday.
How old is the Airliner?  if it is only a few years old, contact SMART Tech Support to see if it is still under Warranty.  If so, they may be able to fix or replace it.
I will confess. In my work I have disassembled a lot of SMART hardware. If you cant get it fixed by warranty you might not be out of luck. There are two possibilities. The pin that the DC adapter touches when plugged in might not be properly connected internally anymore. Try plugging the battery cable in and push up, down, forward, back where it plugs in and see if the charge light will come on. If it does you may need to have something (coffee cup) apply pressure to the cable plug.

Outside of this you could charge batteries with another AirLiner when they die and let it charge it or try to find a charger for the same type and power of battery. I think outside of doing the manual repair work yourself (it can probably be fixed) it just needs some out of the box thinking.
