SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

I had originally request the document camera that is designed to specifically work with SMARTboards, but instead, a regular Elmo was ordered. I figured out how to hook it up to my computer and the SB, but.... I'm just not getting how to use the board with the doc camera. How do I take a shot of what I'm seeing on the doc camera and have load into my notebook software? I'm missing a step or cord somewhere, and I'm at a loss!

Thanks,

Lucy

I do not have the answer but I cannot wait for someone to reply. I am also having this issue with some of my teachers.

In a demonstration of the doc camera the other day, I was told that the only doc camera that works with the SMART board is their own.

I have the Elmo TT-02s, which is the exact same one as the SMART camera, but not SMART branded. To get the image to the board:

1 Insert menu--picture from SCANNER (yes, confusing)
2. select the elmo TWAIN...
3. In the box click the play button to show the image.
4. Use the on-screen controls, or the camera itself to zoom and focus.
5. Click the Stop button--Transfer--Close

That will send the picture to the board. And even though the preview window is small, the image will be almost full screen.

In reality, it isn't much harder than the document camera button for the SMART camera.
I'll make a quick video of this and post as well.

So maybe the rep just wanted to sell their doc cameras! I do have a question...do you have the ability to write and capture your writing into the notebook software with a non-Smart doc camera ? I don't have a Smart doc camera yet. Do you know if your directions work with a Samsung or Epson?

Once the image is captured into Notebook, yes, you can write on it.

The SMART camera and the Elmo I have connect to the computer by USB (plus the video connection). That is how the software is able to control and capture the image. If the Samsung and Epson connect through USB, then I would assume that it would work the same way. If it is just a video connection (S-video, composite, or VGA) then it won't work.

Venita commented on the video that I made to explain this and says, "This is how I import pictures from my AverVision document camera into Notebook, too!" So, it appears that if the camera connects through USB it will work.

I have a Toshiba document camera and a CanoScan scanner that I am trying to get to work with Notebook. I have downloaded the newest drivers, but I still don't see the option to insert picture from scanner that I have heard others talk about. Any ideas?
