A Revolution in Education
Hi,
Before leaving my previous school I saved all my important notebook files to my memory stick. I don't know which version of the notebook software was on the school computer and didn't think I'd have a problem getting the software or opening the files in the future.. but i do.
I have downloaded version 10, however, when I try to open my old files it says I need to update the file to version 10, I don't know how, or whether this will actually do the trick? I really need to open those files as they contain all my pupils learning objectives that took a long time to put together. I'm unfortunately no computer wizard either, I read about 'manually unpacking' the file but thats a different language to me. Can I download older software that would allow me to open the files? If so where from?
Any help in getting my files to open would be greatly appreciated!
Stuart, oh - ive attached a file incase this can help anyone help me.

Two quick things that you could try are:
1. Go to http://express.smarttech.com which is the SMART Express, our web-based viewer program for Notebook files. Click on the Open Existing File blue button, and navigate to where you have your file saved. If it opens in Express, from the Express menu at the top, click File and then Save As. Save the file and you should be good to go.
2. Another thing you could do is to copy your file to your desktop. Then open up a new blank Notebook file by double-clicking the Notebook 10 shortcut on your desktop. Press the middle button at the top of the Notebook file's very top window (It looks like 2 windows, one on top of each other and is to the immediate left of the red x that you use to close the file.) Now "drag" the icon for your file right in to Notebook, right on to the blank page. Let go and see if it loads. We often use this method when a file is having problems, and we want to quickly "recreate" its structure.
Please let us know how you make out!
