SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

I couldn't find anything online or in the help, so I tried it. Simple fractions are easy. If the answer is 3/6, on the senteo the student presses "3", then the "x/y" button on the bottom right, then the "6." That would work for proper or improper fractions.

If the answer is a mixed number, it's a little trickier. When you enter the question and answer, the sample shows 11 2/3 (with a space). But there is no space key on the senteo, so the answer has to be entered as 112/3 (no space). The student would press "112", "x/y", and "3." Then it works fine.

If you need to have a picture for the question type, "What fraction of the picture is shaded? (or similar) and insert the picture.

Hope this helps.

It is a bit tedious, but you can add a fraction in Notebook by using two text boxes, one above the other with a line drawn between. When you create a question, you can don't have to add a fraction in the question box - just leave a space to add it later. If the answers are also fractions, leave the answer choices blank (you'll have to remember which letter you've chosen as the correct answer). When you have finished creating the question, create the fractions as above, group, and move them into the question and the answer choices. What I have done in the past is create a fraction template that has one fraction formatted the way I want. Then click on the page tab, right click on your page and choose add page to gallery. Now you have a formatted fraction that you can clone and edit to make your new fractions. Hope this helps.

To enter a space using the clicker (when you have a mixed number such as 5 1/2), hit the x/y key twice.
