A Revolution in Education
I was using the smartboard today and all of a sudden the notebook disappeared and the desktop was shown. In addition, the cursor on the desktop was not there; only a small blue dot. When you click and drag it would draw on the desktop, but it would not respond to any other commands (right click wouldn't even bring up a menu), and no icons on the desktop could be clicked on. Nothing seems to work. i'm hoping its just a simple fix or bug in the new software. Has anyone else experienced this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

This is not a solution, but just a suggestion I can give to get more information on what might be happening.
If its still happening on your computer, can I have you get into the Task Manager/Activity monitor (depending on what OS you are using whether its Windows or Mac OS) and find the SMARTInk.exe/SMARTInk.app process. When you find it, terminate the process. If you can't find it, can you tell me if you can find a marker.exe/marker.app process?
Since SMARTInk.exe controls the annotation process now, terminating it is the same as killing off your ability to ink on screen. That said, what happens after its been terminated? Do you still get the blue dot and ink? or is regular (non-ink) functionality restored?
