SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

I have a book that my class is reading on my new Kindle, so that I can read it at home w/o worrying about forgetting the book anywhere.  I have found the highlighting feature on the Kindle to be pretty handy.

Earlier today, I was thinking about using the Kindle in the classroom and remembered that there is a Kindle for PC program.  After getting it installed on my computer, I discovered that all of my highlights and notes transferred to the PC application as well.

I think I am going to put it up on the Smartboard today and show the highlights/notes to the whole class.  They all have printed copies of the book.

Has anyone done this before with any success?  It may be a nice merger of tech if it goes as I see it in my head.

I think that is a great idea! I also had a question about using Kindle for PC in the classroom. We are a 1:1 laptop classroom, so all of my kids have the Kindle for PC software on their netbooks. If I want to use Kindle books with my kids, do I have to purchase 20 Kindle copies or can they all share 1 through the software?

Would love to hear about how your Kindle/Smartboard adventure went!
I have no clue on having to buy the copies, but I would guess that you would.

That being said, the Kindle for PC on the smartboard went pretty well. It worked pretty much exactly how I thought it would. Being able to skip straight to highlights and bookmarks with everything projected up front kept the conversations going.
That's great! Interesting way to use the technology. I might try to use it during my Reading Workshop mini-lessons the way you talk about here. Also, found out from my Tech Director that the author often decides how many copies you must buy to use with your entire classroom. Interesting...
The kindle for PC program works great. You can also see what other people highlighted for the same books you read. I also like the kindle app on the ipad too. What is your favorite kindle tip? I like listening to music on my kindle while reading a book.
If you have a MAC laptop running 10.6, load up the App store and download the Kindle app for free.  This means any book you have bought for the Kindle on Amazon, you can view on your computer and SMART Board.  You can then write over any of the words with the SMART Board pens, highlight and read the book on your SMART Board.

OR

Download the Kindle app for 10.5 computers so you can write over any book you bought on your SMART Board from http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=kcp_mac_mkt_lnd?docId=100...
