The board is a big monitor and you are a big mouse. So Obe's suggestion of having them doing it on the computers with the mouse is an excellent way to teach SMART Boards.
Sure, there are new ways to interact with the computer that the boards affords: ink layer, video player, etc that can also be part of an "Advanced" training. But if they are still learning and don't have a board yet, you are really teaching them Notebook.
