SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

Hi Everyone!

I've been using my SB for a couple of years now but this year I wanted to try and use it with my dual screen setup.
My PC has 2 screen outpus, on one of them I've connected both my projector for the SB and the extra screen... so the image will be the same on both of them!
and the other screen is used for monitoring the students etc.

The problen is that I cant get the SB to realize what screen to use, it always draws on the screen that the students isn't supposed to see!
I've tried changing the place of the cables, changing the primary display etc but it's always the same!

Has anyone else managed this or have any ideas?

To fix this you would have to change settings in for your graphics card. I don't know the name of your graphics card. However, look in your control panels-graphics card (Nvidia, ATI etc) or right click on the desktop and choose to customize the graphics card.
Probably has an onboard card
Here's what you do: You need to tell the SMART Board Software that the SMART Board you're planning to use needs to correspond to a specific display.

How to do this: Re-orient the board, but before you touch the board to begin the process, note that on your screen, it should say "To select another display, press the space bar." That said, press the space bar until the orientation screen is shown on your actual SMART Board (via projected image of course). Once you've got the orient screen on the SMART Board/Display you want to use, complete the orientation. This will especially apply to setups with 2 or more SMART Boards.

Once orientation is complete, all touch and writing will be applied to the board/display you completed the orientation on.

I've had the same issue in dealing with two monitors.  I returned to school today with a new monitor as my secondary one and had to re-setup my configuration again.  It seems like my Smart Ink is working as in I can draw on the board with my smart ink pens and then i can touch the object and move it, erase it, and delete it.  However, when I display a web page and try to click on it I get nothing.  I also can't get PowerPoints to respond.  When I touch the screen, it shows up on my other monitor instead.  Any ideas???

I found the solution to my problem.  I did not know that the Smart Board and the Primary monitor have to be on the same video card.  I wanted my Smart Board to be on my secondary monitor where I could drag the things over to that monitor that I wanted the students to see.  I didn't want my students seeing my icons or task bar.  So we just dragged those items over to the secondary monitor which I use as my "main monitor".  So basically the Smart Board MUST be your Primary monitor.  Hope this helps someone else! :)

Also, you'll have to extend the desktop, not mirror the desktop on the board. Then the second monitor ( board) is just a large extension of the computer desktop. This is done in your graphics driver or display control panel.
