SMART Board Revolution

A Revolution in Education

Here is an interesting option for an inexpensive version of a interactive whiteboard. The notebook would be lost, but with enough interest I would hope an opensource version would appear.

Has anyone explored this? Would you?

Looks intriguing and being in the education field, costs are always the biggest hurdle...so, I guess you can say that I would be interested, but would wonder if the quality is really only a little different.

I am going to research it some more...

Thanks for the info....

Thanks for sharing the info-will pass the info on to the tech people since how this all works is foreign to me, except the less expensive part!!!!

I have had a go at recreating this technology, with mixed results. I was trying to make my htpc tv a touch screen. The mouse was responding to the ir pen but very inaccurately. So I need to play around until I get the right components together.

You could still pay for a license for Notebook, it would still work out to be a cheap option. The key will be producing a pen that is easy to use and keep charged.

Very cool, especially because of the multi-touch side of it (still not sure of good applications for multi-touch though).

Bob

I think it would be cool to use the Wii as a another way to interact with the Smartboard similar to an airliner but simpler to use for Jeopardy games and interactive websites.

Basic idea. If you have a Windows or Mac computer that has bluetooth or buy one for $40. Put a Wii remote $40 in range of the projector. You can then use a created IR LED pen $10 to remotely control and write on any surface. For $90, you have an interactive Whiteboard.
