Well, the serial code you need is the one they send you after purchasing (via email), at least that is how my one worked. I didn't even look at the code on the board, will check if they match, but I am at home at the moment, I will reply later today.
Cheers,
Bob

Didn't you have to put in the board serial number at the Smart website to even get the email activation code? The one they emailed and the board SN won't match. On the website form it asked for the board SN. It is listed at the first of 4 steps. The board isn't the only elligible Smart product. You can also enter a SN for
SMART Board interactive whiteboard
Rear-projection SMART Board interactive whiteboard
SMART Board for Flat-Panel Displays interactive whiteboard
Sympodium interactive pen display
Senteo interactive response system
AirLiner wireless slate
SMART Document Camera

A serial number for any of these will get you the activation key.

Being at home with no access to a board I entered the serial number of the my Airliner tablet and that worked OK.

As Matt says, you need the Serial Number of the device - enter that on the website and Smart will email you an unlock code. Save that code somewhere safe (I copied mine to a text file), and you can then use that code whenever you need to do another Smart 10 install.

Matt
When we bought the boards, my sales consultant in Australia, sent me all the serial codes to register the boards online. This is the code I used to get my Notebook10 activation code.

Loving the software even more now!!

I am loving the new Notebook 10, regardless of my previously posted issues with the Mac side. I think many of the upgrades were necessary and can't wait to play around a little more.

the mac version is now on par with the pc .... or so it seems at first glance

I have installed Notebook 10 on both a Windows machine and a Mac running OS 10.4. Both installs went off without a hitch (the Mac was a fresh install, the Windows was an upgrade from version 9.7). When I ran the install, the second or third window asked about installing the Essentials package; I like that they ask before starting the installer. However, I already don't like the new floating toolbar in that you can't flip it to work on both the right and left of your screen. Definitely need to do some exploring before rolling this out to students and staff.

In the Welcome application that starts when you open Notebook, the content on the "Teacher's Hub" tab is being blocked by our Content Filtering Service (Sonic Wall). Our Network Administrator has tried to determine why this is so far without success. Anyone else experiencing this or a similar problem?

Hi all,

You do need a "product key" to activate your NB 10 license. In order to obtain the product key you need a valid serial number from a SMART product. Because of our universal license, you can use this product key an unlimited amount of times. So if a school has a SMART Board, it can be used for all teacher computers, their home computers, and student home computers. There are now step by step directions on how to obtain the product key under the software downloads for Mac and Windows. I hope this helps!!!! I am excited to hear what you all think of the new features!

I really like the version and have enjoyed letting the kids play around in it... they uncovered some of the tools quite quickly and enjoyed it.

I have made a notebook files going over some of the basic new tools that you can use. The link is below...

I got a new Smartboard right before Easter Break and installed the NB10 CD....I had used the older version on my laptop, but this was the first time I installed on my desktop. EVERYTIME I start the NB software I get an error message and it says send or don't send.....not sure what to do

I would uninstall and reinstall following these directions:
1. Click on start/vista button
2. Go to Control panels
3. Go to add/remove programs
4. Remove Notebook Software and SMARTBoard Drivers.
5. Restart computer and then download the latest Notebook software from http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-US/Support/Downloads/SBS/NBSv10WinE...
6. Install and register using your product key.

If you still have problems, post a detailed description (Windows XP or Windows Vista?) of your problem at http://exchange.smarttech.com/forums/14.aspx
