10.6 Upgrade Bugs and Fixes

After reading everyone else's issues with 10.6, I feel lucky! Our issues have been more quirky, inconsistent, and hard to pin down as to possible alternatives to resolve. But, luckily nothing major! SMART tech told me 10.6 and 10.<6 are mutually and backward compatible. This is not so. Graphics may disappear if you try to run a file created with 10.6 on a system still running 10.<6.

So my question to SMART and to this group: Is it possible to download v10<6 anywhere? I checked the SMART software downloads site, but the link to other versions, shows only 10.6 and v9.5

Your help would be appreciated for our newly trained teachers, who want to download 10<6 for use at home.

Don't know if you resolved this yet, but if they gave you copies of the discs to install that is version 10.0. We just had several boards installed and used this CD to load the drivers and notebook. The only issue is that it is Lesson Activity Toolkit 1.0, but you can upgrade that!

Not sure if this is due to the upgrade but it happened once I upgraded.

When I now use my finger as a pen it moves the window down instead of writing - it is like it is moving the sidebar or the actual window eventhough I am trying to write with my finger on the screen. Using the pens it works fine.

Probably need to uninstall and then reinstall? Anyone else experience something like this?

Karen are you running 10.6 on Windows 7 or XP? If it is W7 then you need to turn off panning and the flicking option in the pen and touch menu in the control panel for W7. Hope this helps if you are using W7!

another problem I'm encountering is with the animations. I had animations in some of my files and now they don't work anymore... how annoying!! the biggest problem is with the fly out. the image that flies out flies out for good, like POOF! disappeared! forever!! man oh man!

Scanned documents create a delay when writing on them now. Thought if I tried compressing them it would help, but no go. When inserting from Scanner, I changed the settings to the lowest compression size, but still got the lag.

No one has said anything about the gallery items yet? Why is it that smart removed gallery items? When the upgrade happened, things that teachers used were no longer there???

When the software is upgraded, it will prompt the user if you want to keep the installed galleries. Some of our staff miss this visual queue and leave the box unchecked, which uninstalls the galleries. It sounds like that may have happened to you.

We, also, are experiencing lag when using scanned images inserted into the NoteBook Pages. No resolution yet.

We are having the same problem both with scanned documents and any pages that have pictures/clip art on them. I have not found a workaround at this point.
